Doncaster Racecourse and Yorkshire Air Ambulance collectively raise over £3,000 at inaugural sponsored raceday.
Doncaster Racecourse is thrilled to announce that the very first raceday sponsored by Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) on April 27 successfully raised over £3,000 in support of the charity. This impressive contribution will aid YAA in continuing their critical life-saving services across the region.
Racegoers enjoyed a thrilling seven-race card and a palpable sense of community spirit as they dressed in yellow to support the YAA’s Yellow Yorkshire campaign to raise awareness.
The partnership between Doncaster Racecourse and Yorkshire Air Ambulance began in 2010, and since then the collaboration has raised over £162,000 through various initiatives, however this year saw the YAA’s first sponsored raceday.
Katie Collinson, partnerships manager at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to Doncaster Racecourse for their tremendous support. The funds raised at our raceday in April will make a significant impact on our operations, allowing us to continue providing rapid response emergency services to those in critical need. This partnership highlights the power of community and collaboration in making a real difference.”
Rachel Harwood, executive director of Doncaster Racecourse, also shared her enthusiasm about the successful event. “We are thrilled to have partnered with Yorkshire Air Ambulance for their first sponsored raceday. The generosity of our racegoers and sponsors was truly inspiring. Supporting such a vital service aligns with our commitment to giving back to the community. We look forward to many more events with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance that make a positive impact.”
The day was a resounding success, filled with exhilarating races and generous contributions from attendees. The funds raised will support YAA in maintaining their helicopters and ensuring they remain operational for critical missions across Yorkshire.
Doncaster Racecourse and Yorkshire Air Ambulance extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, contributed and made the day memorable. The YAA sponsored raceday will hopefully become a staple in Doncaster’s fixture list moving forwards, with the ultimate goals of spreading awareness and supporting vital emergency services in the region.
