Thomas Hobson set up another trip to Melbourne with victory in the Doncaster Cup.
Ridden by Ryan Moore the 2/1 favourite stayed on well to get the better of Max Dynamite (8/1) as trainer Willie Mullins notched up a 1-2 in the Group 2 contest.
Veteran stayer Sheikhzayedroad (5/1) stuck on well for third.
Thomas Hobson finished sixth in last year’s Melbourne Cup from a wide draw and connections are set to head back Down Under for another crack at the race.
Max Dynamite finished third in that renewal and is also likely to be on the plane with Thomas Hobson.
Moore said: “He was very good today, he was very smooth. He quickened up well and both of Willie's horses have run huge races there.
“His class came through in the end there I think.”
David Simcock was thrilled with the run of Sheikhzayedroad and was also pleased to see Algometer run on for fourth.
Simcock said: “I’m delighted with Sheikhzayedroad. At the end of the day he's finished third despite being beaten a long way.
"It reminds me very much of a race he ran in Dubai leading into another race and I'd like to think that's the level we are getting back to now.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see him improve quite a lot from that run. Algometer has run well, I’ve got a feeling he’ll be a nice two-miler, especially next year.”
