Heading to the famous DFS Ladies Day on Thursday 13 September? Check out our top 10 tips for Ladies Day...
1. Don't wait until last minute to book a taxi!
Make sure you’re well organised and book a taxi or minibus months in advance! If you do happen to forget, then don’t worry…. We have a Shuttle Bus Service running from Doncaster Interchange and back again after racing. It’ll take you straight to the main entrance so sit back and relax.
2. Tell the girls where you're meeting
If you’re looking for a Meeting Place, the Double Trigger horse statue located near the Pre-Parade Ring is ideal… Unless 30,000 other people also choose this as their meeting place! Plus, it’s the perfect place for your first ‘St Leger Selfie’ of the day.
3. Flip-Flops will be your new best friend!
Heels… they never last on your feet for the whole day! On Ladies Day and William Hill St Leger Day, sponsors William Hill will be giving out FREE flip-flops on a first come first served basis! Make the most of it, they are a god send by 2pm!
4. Don't get sun burnt
Remember that it’s likely to be very warm in September so remember your sun cream. It may be the last thing on your mind when you’re getting ready but look after your skin as you’ll regret it the next morning!
5. Pace yourself
No doubt that you’ll be sipping prosecco whilst your having your hair done, on the mini bus and of course as soon as you arrive, but remember, no one wants ‘that friend’ that goes home early as they’ve had ‘too much’. Allow one soft drink between every alcoholic drink and you’ll have a fantastic day!
6. Plan what you'll be eating
No doubt you’ll be feeling peckish as the afternoon goes on and you know how it goes, the girls all want something different! But don’t worry, we have a wide range of delicious dishes available throughout the course. From pizza to nachos, light bites to burritos…. We’ve got it covered!
7. Don't miss the DFS Best Dressed Lady competition
The one they all want to win! The coveted DFS Best Dressed lady title will take place in the middle of the afternoon and if you don’t fancy being part of it, it’s definitely one to watch! Details of how to enter will be available on our website very soon so get shopping for *that* dress!
8. Make sure you don't lose one of the girls!
If you’re going for a girls’ day out then it’s highly likely that you’ll lose ‘that one friend that always gets lost’. Make sure you all take a note of each other’s phone numbers as you can ask our Main Reception to give them a call.
9. Back the winners
If you fancy a flutter on the day then fear not, our expert racing panel will be giving you their best tips for the day approximately 45 minutes before the first race. But remember… If your horse wins then you’re probably buying the next round of drinks!
10. Get here early!
If you want to guarantee a seat for the afternoon then make sure you get here early as no one wants to be on their feet all day…. Especially with heels! Outdoor seating will be available on the Champagne Lawn, Clock Tower Lawn and Family Lawn but only on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
Most of all…. HAVE FUN!
