Trainer Hugo Palmer celebrated a welcome Group 2 winner as Powerful Breeze (6-1) recorded an easy win in the William Hill May Hill Stakes.
The filly was last seen making an impressive winning debut at Newmarket but had to face far more experienced rivals on just her second start upped in trip.
However, she confirmed herself an exciting prospect for the future as she ran out a good winner under James Doyle.
Doyle had Powerful Breeze settled near the rear as West End Girl led the field along with the 6-4 favourite Cloak Of Spirits.
With just over two furlongs to go Doyle moved Powerful Breeze out from behind the closing pack to get a clear run and she made rapid headway to take up the lead coming home a length clear of Boomer (8-1) with Alpen Rose (10-1) a further neck back in third as the early leaders weakened out of contention.
The win gave a delighted Palmer a first Group-race success since September 2018.
He said: “I'm absolutely delighted. James Doyle had her covered up beautifully and produced her at the perfect moment. We've seen at home that what she might lack in experience she makes up for in heart.
"We've got some plans to make now and it's a nice position to be in.
"I did think maybe she got there a bit soon but she saw it out well on only her second start stepping up in trip.
"We haven't had the easiest of seasons and our three-year-olds haven't turned out to be what we dreamt they might have been, so to get a Group 2 on the board with one of our two-year-olds is thoroughly exciting.
"I think she would go on most ground apart from really soft. We'll see how she is but I suppose we will have to think about supplementing her for the Fillies' Mile now."
