The tenth running of the popular Leger Legends race run at Doncaster on the opening day of the St Leger festival will feature a new benefactor this year. Elwick Stud, who stand Mondialiste- a dual grade one winning son of leading sire Galileo have kindly agreed to be headline sponsor.
Dale Gibson who negotiated the agreement on behalf of the Legends Committee said “I am thrilled that Geoff and Sandra Turnbull have chosen to embrace the Legends race and wish them and the new committee every success alongside the hardworking team at Doncaster”
Geoff Turnbull said “‘We are delighted to be sponsoring the 10th running of the Leger Legends Race. Recognising the fantastic work carried out by the committee, in organising an event to raise vital funds for Jack Berry House and Northern Racing College; who provide excellent training and support for the people who make this fantastic sport possible. This years running is to be ‘The Mondialiste Leger Legends Stakes’, which is very fitting as Doncaster was the first racecourse he carried our colours. We are thrilled with how he has settled in to the next chapter of his career as a stallion; he now has his first foals on the ground and they are proving extremely exciting”
Leger Legends Chairman Nigel Brewster said “The Committee members and everyone connected with the Leger Legends are delighted that Elwick Stud are to support the race as the new headline sponsor for 2019. Having already raised over £1 million for the IJF’s Jack Berry House and the Northern Racing College, the Leger Legends race is a truly unique event in the racing calendar, we welcome their support in continuing this superb initiative. As a northern based, racing and breeding organisation, Elwick Stud is an ideal partner to support the Leger Legends ongoing work.
