Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) are delighted to announce the appointment of Rachel Harwood as Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse. Rachel’s appointment at Doncaster follows a long career in sport, most recently as an Executive Director of Durham Cricket since 2012 and previous roles at The Kassam Complex, home of Oxford United FC, and York Conference Park.
During her time in cricket, Rachel was involved the successful delivery of the first Ashes Test Match at Durham, along with the hosting of three ICC Cricket World Cup matches across the summer of 2019. She will start at Doncaster in early April.
Mark Spincer, Managing Director of the ARC Racing Division said, “Doncaster plays a key role both within ARC and British Racing. As such, we’re delighted to welcome Rachel as Executive Director, overseeing all aspects of the business at both the racecourse and on-site hotel.
Rachel is a proven operator with significant experience managing major sporting events throughout her time at Durham. Equally, her role at Oxford was heavily involved in the hotel and conferencing business, both of which are hugely important to Doncaster.”
Rachel Harwood commented, “After nine years at Durham, I am delighted to move to such a prestigious sporting venue as Doncaster Racecourse and am very much looking forward to getting started with the team there.”
Doncaster Racecourse will host a total of 37 fixtures in 2020, with highlights including The Unibet Lincoln, Group 1 races The William Hill St Leger and the Vertem Futurity Trophy alongside The Sky Bet Chase and Grimthorpe Chase over jumps.
