EIGHTIES superstar Martin Kemp is set to add a touch of ‘Gold’ to the iconic William Hill St Leger Festival race meeting this September, when he plays a DJ set on DFS Ladies Day (Thursday 13 September 2018).

Martin – who’s renowned for his acting, radio and television presenting work as well as his music- will entertain crowds with a 90 minute DJ performance, which will include musical classics from his career as well as well-known tunes from the 80s through to modern-day tracks.

Tim Banfield, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: "We’re thrilled to be welcoming Martin Kemp to Ladies Day 2018, as one of the most well-known musical icons of the 80s we know his DJ set is going to prove enormously popular with the crowds.”

The St Leger Festival Ladies Day is one of the most glamorous social occasions in the racing calendar, attracting more than 15,000 people from across the country.

As well as the hot competition on the racing track, attendees often compete themselves in the outfit stakes, vying to take home the title of Best Dressed Lady.

Tim added: “Ladies Day is all about glitz, glamour and having a great time. There’s always a fantastic atmosphere across the racecourse and Martin Kemp’s aftershow party will add to that, providing the perfect end to the day and giving people the chance to relive the 80s on the dancefloor!”

The William Hill St Leger Festival begins on Wednesday 12 September with the DC Training Leger Legends Day. This event sees retired celebrities of the saddle dust off their breeches and return to action in the feature event, competing in a charity race.

The penultimate day is the Lakeside Village Gentlemen’s Day - Friday 14 September - during which some of the most prestigious racing of the festival takes place, including the Doncaster Cup – the oldest race currently run under the Rules of Horse Racing.

And on Saturday 15 September the festival reaches its climax with the William Hill St Leger Day – home to the World’s oldest Classic, the St Leger Stakes.
