Doncaster Racecourse is delighted to announce the outstanding young artist from Richmond Hill Primary School as the winner of its much-anticipated Leger Legends Racecard Competition. Alex (Aged 8), has brilliantly captured the spirit of this year's St Leger Festival theme, 'Made in Doncaster.' Her winning design featured iconic Doncaster landmarks like Conisbrough Castle, Doncaster Train Station and of course Doncaster Racecourse.

The Leger Legends Racecard Competition, was open to primary school children in Doncaster, inviting budding artists to create imaginative designs to adorn the racecard during the prestigious St Leger Festival, taking place from 14-17 September. Richmond Hill Primary School's student wowed both festival organisers and the panel of judges with their exceptional artwork, however there could only be one winner and Alex came out on top.

The winning pupil from Richmond Hill Primary School has been awarded a Family Pass to the St Leger Community Funday, along with food vouchers to enhance their day at the event. Moreover, they will receive a framed copy ofracecard featuring their remarkable design.

To honour their creative contribution, a unique mural of the winning design will also grace the Grandstand Enclosure, where it will be admired by visitors for years to come.

Alex spoke about her joy at winning: “It was really amazing to win this competition. It took me two or three days to think about the design and then draw everything and I was so happy when I found out I won! I can’t wait to go to the racecourse, I am excited to see the printed racecard when we get there and all the horses as well.”

Rachel Harwood, Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We are thrilled to crown a pupil from Richmond Hill Primary School as the winner of the Leger Legends Racecard Competition. Their design beautifully represents what young minds cherish about Doncaster, and we eagerly anticipate sharing it with thousands of racegoers.”

Debbie Secker, Richmond Hill Primary Academy Principal, commented on the announcement: “We’re so proud of Alex for winning the competition. Her design was amazing with so many wonderful links to Doncaster. She’s so excited to have won and to be able to go along to the racecourse with her classmates. We’re also thankful to Doncaster Racecourse for their generous donation. With a school full of budding artists inspired by Alex, we might even put it towards some new art supplies for everyone to enjoy!”
