Doncaster Racecourse proudly welcomes the new year with one of its most thrilling and iconic events, the Great Yorkshire Chase. Taking place every January, this National Hunt Premier Handicap is a key highlight of the winter racing season, attracting some of the finest horses, jockeys, and trainers from across the UK. Steeped in history, the Great Yorkshire Chase has delivered countless unforgettable moments, and it remains a must-see for racing fans and newcomers alike.
The race itself covers an impressive 3 miles, presenting a true test of endurance, skill, and tactical prowess for all competitors. Over the years, this prestigious event has seen some legendary performances. Ziga Boy stands out as the race’s most successful horse, with two emphatic victories, while jockey Tom Moloney holds the record with three wins to his name. On the training front, Fred Rimell remains unmatched, having prepared four winning horses, solidifying his legacy in the history of the race.
Children 17 and under go free* to the races when accompanied by an adult (*exclusions may apply). Children do not require a ticket in advance and a free ticket will be issued on the day.
