Darts legend Bobby George will be stepping up to the oche as part of Doncaster Racecourse's action-packed Derby Day fixture which is set to hit the bulls-eye with horse racing and darts fans alike on Saturday, June 07.

The Town Moor's Derby Day fixture, which coincides with and will pay homage to, the Epsom classic which historically attracts some of the best runners and riders in the sport, will see George, aka the "King of Darts", take part in a special Help for Heroes 9 Dart Challenge' competition. Guests will be able to throw nine arrows on the day, seeking to nail a high enough score to put them in with a chance of playing against the World Championship finalist in a pro-am contest.

First prize for one lucky race-goer, having competed against the darts legends, will be four County passes for the Racing Post Tropy Day at Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday, October 25.

Bobby George is widely recognised as one of the game's biggest personalities, known for his flamboyant entrances in which he makes his way to the stage bedecked in jewellery, wearing a crown and cloak and holding a candelabra to the sound of Queen's We are the Champions'. Since 1998, he has also worked for the BBC as a co-presenter and promoter of the sport during their coverage of many darts tournaments.

Sean Wallage from MW Entertainments, organisers of the competition sponsored by
Evans Halshaw Citroen Doncaster, said: "After the success of Frank Bruno and Jimmy White at Doncaster Racecourse we look forward to welcoming darting Legend Bobby George."

Mark Spincer, managing director of Doncaster Racecourse, said: "It is going to be really exciting to have darts legend Bobby George battling it out in competition with our guests at our Derby Day meeting. The contest will make for some great entertainment off the track to compliment a great day's racing billed as the Derby Day for the North'. The off-the-track line up also includes UB40 tribute act The UB40 Experience' and a DJ who will be playing summer tunes on the terrace of The Old Weighing Room, so there really is something for everyone."

Bobby George's appearance is part of the Summer of Legends Racedays. Gordon Banks will be appearing on at the Father's Day Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 15 and Graham Gooch will be appearing at the Racing Post Trophy meeting on Saturday, October 25.
